Because fossil fuel is more expensive, and soon we will have to find some alternative way to power our vehicles, electrics ways for transportation are very popular. There are many electric cars on the market and there are even electric bicycles, but there is no electric motorcycle. Well, maybe this is going to change. One of the best-known motorcycle manufacturer, Harley-Davidson, presented their concept of a motorcycle powered by the electricity. It is called Live Wire.
The performances of this motorcycle are decent. It is powered by a 70 hp electric motor. It has 70 Nm of torque and 0-100km/h acceleration under 4 seconds. The interesting fact is, while you are driving this bike, it will generate the sound of a jet engine. A driver will have in front of him a touch screen, which will display all information about the battery level and other indicators. This bike has a lithium-ion battery of unknown capacity, but we know that it should have a radius of 85 kilometers, which isn’t bad. An owner can recharge the battery in just 3.5 hours.
The top speed is limited to 150 km/h, but a serial model may be ‘’free’’ of this limitation. Harley Davidson made a few concepts of new bikes. They will be presented in the US, first, and then in Europe and Canada. This is good news for all people who like motorcycles. Beside electric cars that are needed for traveling, going to work or in shopping, people in the near future will have an opportunity to enjoy in electric motorcycles.
